N39: Fever & Chills - Nature’s Homeopathic Response

Chills followed by fever is a beautiful example of one of homeopathy’s fundamental principles.  Like cures like, or the Law of Similars, is about giving your body more of what it is experiencing to illicit a response.  With fever and chills, we see the chills helping the body’s temperature drop so that the body can create a fever.  If their body is able to make a fever without the chills, the individual will not experience it.  Managing illness such as flu and colds is important.  One needs to remember that sometimes taking a remedy too soon will mess the totality of symptoms picture and thus making it hard to choose a good remedy.  It is important to keep people safe, but chills and fever are even accepted by allopathic medicine to be important in the body’s ability to heal itself.  Taking the fever and chills away without letting the body use them can lengthen the dis-ease and weaken the body’s natural defenses.  Looking at the individual and their specific set of symptoms and capacity to stay hydrated and happy during this period is very important. Giving the constitutional first is also well recommended. Desktop Companion To Physical Pathology by Roger Morrison, M.D. has been recommended in previous narratives and here too it is an amazing resource to consider.

Question of the day: What do we do if they take homeopathy away from us?

Remember that homeopathy is a rediscovery of nature’s healing mechanisms and you can always go back to nature and carry out the laws of nature yourselves.
